M3.2 Vulnerable Populations
Good videos on a great topic. I like the ideas of physicians getting more involved and asking bigger and broader questions will help. What are we doing about educating the patient? The patients health ultimately falls on the patient themselves. Physicians are with patients for maybe 30 minutes a year. We need to educate in doctors offices and with more public service announcements by trusted sources throughout the year and especially within vulnerable communities. Bus ads, pamphlets, posters around convenience stores etc...
Hi Dan,
ReplyDelete"The patients health ultimately falls on the patient themselves." Can you expand on that, because it seems like you are trying to say the patient's sickness is their own fault and it is up to them to resolve it. Thinking upstream involves health and medical professionals addressing risk factors that is out of the patient's control.
Hi Dan,
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree that patients (and the general public) should be educated. In the end, our behavior has a big impact on our health and were we to eliminate unhealthy behavior completely, we would have a much healthier lifestyle and overall health. Educational campaigns are definitely necessary to get the information out there.
