M7.8 Topic of Interest

My topic is BPA and miscarriage. I wanted to find out if there is a direct link between BPA exposure and miscarriage. There is a collection of information readily available on my initial searches within peer reviewed article databases such as PubMed and Toxnet.

There is no real regulatory body that governs miscarriage. Mainly information is housed on some database or reasons why miscarriage may happen. Some main bodies that monitor maternal and infant health are Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS), the National ART Surveillance System (NASS), and the Pregnancy Mortality Surveillance System (PMSS). The links are attached to the text and are within the CDC.

  1. Hi Dan,
Are miscarriages just monitored? Are there any governmental agencies whose goal is to address miscarriages? Have you found any policy information related to banning BPA and other chemicals that are associated with miscarriages?

  2. Hey Dan,
This seems like an interesting topic for your lit review. I'm taking Maternal Health right now and miscarriages is something that we talk about a lot in class. I'm looking forward to your presentation on this topic.
